Who We Are
ENGin is a free weekly online English practice for Ukrainians with native speakers for students age 14-22. Our mission is to create a generation of young Ukrainians who can speak English fluently and are connected to their peers across the globe, while also revolutionizing virtual volunteering in the US and worldwide. ENGin aims at accelerating Ukraine’s economic development and connecting Ukraine to the global conversation in various fields. ENGin was founded in January 2020 and ENGin is led by Katerina Manoff, a Ukrainian who currently lives outside of New York City. Katerina is supported by an international team based in the US and Ukraine.
What We Do
ENGin is a nonprofit initiative providing free, high-quality speaking practice for English learners in Ukraine while offering English speakers all over the world a flexible and rewarding volunteer opportunity. We work with high school and college-age students. At ENGin a young person aged 13-22 can be either a student or a volunteer. Here's how our program works: we will pair a volunteer up with a Ukrainian student to video chat each week at times that are convenient for a volunteer. We match students and volunteers based on age, gender preference, and schedules. All of our students have some knowledge of English and we will provide a volunteer with training and suggested session activities. Speaking sessions can be 30-60 minutes long. There are also more opportunities that ENGin provides namely group sessions, leadership opportunities and more.
