Whatcom Street Medicine is looking for a few more doctors and nurses to sustain and increase our services. We are group of volunteer doctors and nurses who work outside of traditional healthcare settings, meeting individuals where they are, whether that be on the street, in the alleys, or in a homeless camp. Through building genuine relationships, trust and rapport with clients, the Whatcom Street Medicine team connects vulnerable people with healthcare services.
Whatcom Street Medicine makes rounds twice a week. Each team of doctors and nurses is partnered with a homeless outreach professional from the Opportunity Council's Homeless Outreach Team (HOT), Bridge 2 Services, or Road2Home to act as a guide and to connect individuals with community resources and social services. Our teams perform basic wound care, first aid, and consultation. Whatcom Street Medicine is a project of the Whatcom County Medical Reserve Corps.
