Western Washington University will host Latinos in Action conference on Friday, March 20, bringing together 500 Latino students from across Northwest Washington for workshops, guest speakers, and leadership development programming focused on building skills, confidence, and community. This year’s conference theme is You Belong. The mission of Latinos In Action (LIA) is “Empowering youth to lead and strengthen their communities.” This annual event brings together Latino students from elementary, middle, and high schools across Western Washington. Student, Faculty, and Staff Volunteers Needed! Instructions: Please read the volunteer position descriptions below. To register for one or more position, scroll to the bottom of this page with the list of Shifts. Choose the corresponding start and end time (each shift also has a different amount of volunteers needed) that matches your choice. In the Response Notes that show on the following page, note which position you are interested in so that we know you have chosen what you would like. You may also contact Jenn Cook, cookj22@wwu.edu, and she can register on your behalf! Group Session Guide Description: Serve as the primary campus liaison for an assigned school group/class. Group Guides will escort their group across campus, help them stay on schedule, and guide them to their assigned programs and activities throughout the day. You’ll be the go-to point of contact to ensure groups know where to go and feel supported while on campus. Hours: 7:30am-2:00pm Number of Volunteers Needed: 25 Registration Assistant Description: Work with LIA team to provide registration support to check in groups as they arrive, hand out wristbands, etc. Hours: 7:30am-10:00am Number of Volunteers Needed: 6 Bus Greeter Description: Greet school buses (on High Street) as they arrive and escort them to the PAC, and escort groups back to High Street for bus pickup as they leave campus. Hours: 7:30am-10:30am and/or 2-3pm) Number of Volunteers Needed: 6 (per time) Tabling Session Assistant Description: Support campus partner tabling area where departments showcase their campus programs. Provide staffing support in the tabling area (VU MPR), hand out swag as students arrive, assist with crowd management, and transitional periods in and out of the space. Hours: 10:00am-1:15pm Number of Volunteers Needed: 2 Lunch Assistant Description: Help support students during lunch. Direct them to food area, tell them about their lunch options, assist with bussing tables, and support overall crowd flow and navigate the dining hall experience. Hours: 10:00am-1:15pm Number of Volunteers Needed: 6 All volunteers will be provided a complimentary lunch in the Viking Commons! Expectations:
