Whatcom Land Trust Canyon Lake Work Party
Friday - Saturday, Aug. 28-29
Join Whatcom Land Trust for a rare opportunity to care for and camp-out at Canyon Lake Community Forest! This two-day work party will entail a variety of trail maintenance tasks. The beautiful, high-elevation County Park showcases tranquil Canyon Lake and some of the last remaining old growth forest in Whatcom County outside of federally protected areas.
This work party is planned over two days. Our first group will be departing from the WLT office at 9:30 am on Friday Aug 28th. We are encouraging participants to stay the night and enjoy this rare opportunity to camp out on the shores of Canyon Lake and relish this amazing old growth environment. Friday we’ll work through mid-afternoon then set up camp and enjoy the evening.
Saturday morning we’ll be leading another group up to join the Friday overnight contingent. We will leave the WLT office at 7:45 am Aug 29th. Again we’ll plan on working through mid-afternoon.
Access to this site is through a locked gate so ingress and egress through the gate has to be made by a WLT employee. Because of this we are asking participants to plan on working through the scheduled hours of the two work party opportunities: Friday and Saturday (staying overnight) or one full day on Saturday. Space is limited to 25 people total. RSVP is required by Aug 24th by clicking RESPOND. This site is accessible only through a locked gate. Carpooling, driving details and camping particulars will be provided to participants who RSVP.
