We have an exciting new Food Recovery opportunity with J's Kitchen in Fairhaven!
The details:
There are plenty of opportunities available, but our latest shift opening is to deliver surplus food from J's Kitchen to Unity Village (Tuesday) and the Lighthouse Mission Kitchen (Friday)! This opportunity occurs every Tuesday and Friday between 9:00am to 11:00am and usually takes up to 1 hour. Volunteer once or regularly! Sign up here!
The program:
Sustainable Connections' Food Recovery Program reduces food insecurity and addresses climate change by recovering and redistributing nutritious surplus food to neighbors in need of food assistance. We need volunteers to help pick up food from restaurants and transport the food to hunger relief agencies. Sign up here!
Plan to:
- Drive your personal vehicle.
- Lift food trays as heavy as 25 lbs.
Everyone is welcome!
We will provide you with a scale and on-site training as well as written instructions for each pickup location and drop-off site.
