Sustainable Connections' Food Recovery Program reduces food insecurity and addresses climate change by recovering and redistributing nutritious surplus food to neighbors in need. We need volunteers to help pick up food from restaurants and transport the food to hunger relief agencies. Sign up here! We have a diverse list of food recovery opportunities between Monday and Friday from 8 am - 4 pm. Each shift only takes 30 minutes to an hour and works well for people with busy schedules. We currently have a couple of shifts we need help with! Otherside Bagels- Mondays and Thursdays at 3pm ACME farms + Kitchen Thursdays at 10am Turtle's Cafe - Mondays at 5pmPlan to: Drive your personal vehicle Lift food trays as heavy as 25 lbs We will provide you with reusable containers for foodEveryone is welcome! Volunteer: Help Support a Community Fridge!Help reduce landfill waste and reduce hunger in our community by supporting a free community fridge! Sign up to clean up the Freedge (community fridge) on Mondays and Thursdays! Spend about 30 minutes wiping down the inside of the fridge, taking the trash out and generally making the space welcoming and presentable to encourage folks to come get the free food. You do not need a vehicle to complete this shift, and all cleaning materials are provided. For more information, and to sign up for shifts click this link! We’re looking for volunteers to help pick up food from local restaurants and transport it to hunger relief agencies. What to expect: -Flexible weekday shifts between 9:00 AM–4:00 PM -Most shifts take just 30–60 minutes -A simple, meaningful way to make an immediate impact Volunteer responsibilities: -Use your personal vehicle for pickups and drop-offs -Lift and carry food trays (up to 25 lbs) -Transport food safely using reusable containers we provide Support & training: We offer on-site training for your first shift, along with clear, step-by-step instructions for each pickup and drop-off location—so you’ll feel confident every step of the way.
