Privacy Notice
Purpose of Notice
To inform WWU students about the use of their personal data when using the Get Connected Platform for the purpose of:
· Connecting them to organizations in need of volunteers, and
· Maintaining their volunteer service records for them to include in their portfolios for future employment and educational pursuits.
What personal data is collected?
· First and last name
· Personal email address
How will the data be used?
· Used as contact information for service sites in need of volunteers and
· Ensures service records are maintained for the correct student
Who has access to the personal data?
Limited staff for the purpose of assessment data to know which students are volunteering, how many students are volunteering, and to send surveys or update messages as necessary.
Will the data be shared with others for purposes other than that stated above?
Simple data assessment such as numbers of volunteers, numbers of volunteer hours completed, and cross-referenced demographic data will be shared with university staff and stakeholders. Names and email addresses will not be shared.
How long will we retain the data and how will it be securely disposed?
Data will be retained for the required period of six (6) years and will be purged from the system after the six (6) years. After the initial six (6) years, starting in April 2031, data will be routinely purged from the system each year.
