Bellingham Threshold Singers

Bellingham Threshold Singers is a diverse group of women with the shared purpose of singing together to bring comfort to those who are seriously ill or dying and to their families. We are nurses, counselors, writers, teachers, administrators, business managers and more. We are loving friends, mothers, grandmothers, wives and daughters. We know what it is to care for and nurture others.

Our organization is run entirely by volunteers from our board of directors to the woman who answers the phone to those who set up our practice space. Our practices are led by volunteers who agree to be practice leaders for a period of time. Experienced volunteers provide training for our members who want to become qualified to sing at the bedside.

We welcome new singers! However, perhaps singing at the bedside is not your thing. We need all kinds of volunteers in support of our mission. We will support you in any role you chose to play as a member of our group---at the bedside or as a volunteer.

The purpose of Bellingham Threshold Singers is to relieve distress, pain or anxiety with comforting song. These songs are offered to individuals who are at life’s threshold, often seriously ill or dying. We are known for our gentle, compassionate voices and a unique nondenominational collection of songs. We sing in groups of three-four volunteers for 15-20 minutes at the bedside of those in care facilities or in their own homes with a caregiver present.

We are always sensitive to the physical and emotional needs of the individual. We share our songs and compassion with all those who may be present at the bedside. We always respect the desire for family time and privacy.

We sing songs of peace and love, courage and letting go, healing and joy to let people know they are not alone on their journey. Our unique music can be enjoyed by people of all faith traditions and those of no faith.

We always offer our songs and compassion at no charge.
