Bellingham Country Dance Society

As a whole we are a group of dancers and musicians passionate about music, dance, and the joy and connection we cultivate through it. If you are interested in helping out please see our website for an overview of volunteer opportunities.  Intro level volunteer duties include dance set up, dance take down, poster art creation, poster dispersal, door monitoring. 

At it's most basic we organize regular social dancing with live music for all ages in a lively non-alcohol environment. As per our mission statement: The Bellingham Country Dance Society is a nonprofit educational organization which is dedicated to the preservation, study, teaching, enjoyment and continuing evolution of new, traditional, and historical English and American dance, music, and song At it's most grand, through dance and music we create joy and connection, good health and robust community. Through the storied tradition of folk dance and music and a warm and welcoming low stress environment we at the Bellingham Country Dance Society endeavour to bring people together in joy and delight; to keep our bodies and minds healthy with good exercise and socialization; to keep our communities resilient by forging strong local connections; to encourage sustainability with localized cultural activities; to enrich lives with an activity that is an hour to learn, but a lifetime to perfect; to provide a place for emotional expression through music and movement; and to empower by offering a place for leadership and growth, and ownership and agency in our own cultural legacy that connects us to our past and present; to make Bellingham a place we want to work, live, and play, and a place to invest our lives and our energy.
