Who We Are

OUR MISSION
We provide opportunities for people to serve the needs of their neighbors by filling gaps in human services.

OUR VISION

Interfaith Coalition is a community of many faiths working together to improve the quality of life for our neighbors in need in Whatcom County.

OUR VALUES

  • We harness the power of diverse faith communities working together.
  • Services are offered without regard to religious affiliation or beliefs.
  • Diversity, Equity, Accessibility, and Inclusion (DEAI) and anti-racism are centered in all we do.
  • All people deserve to be treated with dignity and respect.

What We Do

We bridge the gap between local families who are experiencing homelessness and the skills and tools they want to become self-sufficient in a home of their own. We bring together the strengths and resources of local agencies, congregations, and community members to provide everything from meals and winter coats to temporary housing and financial literacy classes.

Examples of our work:

  • A family in our housing had their car stolen. In less than two weeks, staff got word out to our network, a volunteer’s son donated his car, and staff solicited donations to have necessary repairs made to replace the family’s car.
  • After being in Interfaith Coalition housing, a son who had dropped out of college was motivated to go back and started classes at Bellingham Technical College.
  • When Covid hit and in-person volunteering was no longer possible, volunteers started doing virtual story times for children in our housing.
