Who We Are

Our library is an essential community meeting place for lifelong education, and an access point to a world of information.  This is a wonderful place to work because we know that we help people of all ages thrive in their personal and professional roles by providing the resources they need.
Connecting our community with each other and the world

What We Do

Bellingham Public Library serves the residents of Bellingham and Whatcom County, circulating over 1.6 million items annually to almost 60,000 active cardholders.

The library is a department of the City of Bellingham and receives the majority of its funding from city taxes.

The Library provides services throughout the community in three library locations: downtown's Central Library, Fairhaven Branch Library, and Barkley Branch Library.

In addition to providing access to our collections of books, dvds, cds, books on cd, and kits, we offer digital resources of ebooks, eaudiobooks, emagazines, efilms, emusic, and a variety of research databases.

We also provide programs, classes, and special events for all ages, including storytimes and engaging early literacy classes taught by childhood education experts.
