The July 20th issue of the New Yorker article “The Big One” ( http://www.newyorker.com/magazine/2015/07/20/the-really-big-one )made headlines both in our region and across the nation when it explained in detail the massive earthquake (expected to be larger than the 2011 earthquake and tsunami to hit Japan) predicted to devastate the Pacific Northwest.
Please join us on November 18th (yes, 8 days before Thanksgiving) as the paleo-seismologist mentioned 17 times in the article, Dr. Chris Goldfinger of Oregon State University, will be our main panelist and will explain the science and the practical realities of the impending earthquake.
Joining Dr. Goldfinger will be Rob Johnson a former 40th District legislator, former Director of the Cascadia Region Earthquake Workgroup, and since 1996, a FEMA Disaster Recovery Reservist. Mr. Johnson will help us understand how our community should respond to such a disaster.
