As the weather turns, Ferndale Community Services is gearing up to open our Severe Weather Shelter from November through March. We're on the lookout for dedicated volunteers to help us provide a safe, warm, and welcoming space for our unhoused neighbors on the coldest nights of the year.
You'll be the friendly face that greets our guests, helping with everything from setup and check-in to just being a supportive presence. We have flexible 4-hour shifts available between 4:30 p.m. and 9:30 a.m. It’s not always glamorous work, but it’s incredibly meaningful, and it makes a direct impact right here in our community.
No prior experience? No problem! What we're really looking for are compassionate and reliable people. We provide all the necessary training, including an on-site orientation and valuable de-escalation skills, to make sure you're confident and prepared.
Ready to be a part of the team? Let's make sure everyone in our community has a safe place to turn this winter. We literally couldn't do it without you!
