(This opportunity will take place in our Bellingham center, but virtual participation is acceptable)
Mission: Seattle Goodwill provides quality, effective employment training and basic education to individuals experiencing significant barriers to economic opportunity. Because jobs change lives.
Position Description: Provide one-on-one translation and/or small group translation to students at a one-time Immigration and Refugee Resource Fair to be held on August 19th from 11 am to 3 pm. Volunteers will support attendees seeking information from service providers. Speakers of Dari, Spanish, and Ukrainian are especially needed.
Ongoing Primary Responsibilities:
In addition to the event on August 19, volunteers may choose to become a regular volunteer with Evergreen Goodwill and continue to provide one-on-one and/or small group academic support to students in a variety of subjects (ESOL, reading & writing, computers, math, retail & customer service and more) as a supplement to classroom instruction in the Whatcom County Job Training & Education center. Tutoring sessions are scheduled outside of class time at a specified location within the Job Training & Education Center.
