Volunteer Tourism Ambassadors assist visitors, residents, and community members at our Visitor Information Centers by providing recommendations, insight, local knowledge, and general support. This volunteer role is ideal for individuals who enjoy engaging with the public and who take pride in sharing the best of Whatcom County.
What you will do
- Greet and assist visitors with maps, knowledge and local resources
- Provide accurate information about attractions, events, outdoor activities, and regional amenities
- Offer clear directions and suggestions based on interests
- Support general visitor center operations and light administrative tasks
- Represent the organization with professionalism, courtesy, and local knowledge
Qualifications
- Familiarity with Whatcom County’s attractions, or willingness to learn
- Strong customer service and communication skills
- Ability to multitask and respond to varied inquiries
- Friendly, positive, and reliable disposition
- Comfortable working in a public-facing environment
Time Commitment
- One 3-hour shift per week (Minimum)
- Minimum commitment of three months
- Flexible scheduling available for interested volunteers
